Airline maintenance task rescheduling in a disruptive environment

Airline maintenance task scheduling takes place in a disruptive environment. The stochastic arrival of corrective tasks and changes both fleet resource availability require schedules to be continuously adjusted. An optimal schedule ensures that all are executed before their due date an efficient (at minimum use ground-time) stable (limited number changes) manner. This paper is the first study address disruption management for hangar problem, proposing practical modeling framework. framework comprises mixed integer linear programming model airline rescheduling environment, which constrained by resources. model’s capabilities include creating adjusting dynamically reacting new information when this becomes available. was tested case provided large airline, its performance compared current practice airline. results show proposed approach produces more results. A 3% ground time decrease achieved, while last days operations decreased than half.
